CULTURAL days are a highlight of the Luson Aged Care calendar.
The popular monthly activities celebrate different countries and encourage residents to embrace the special theme by dressing up and indulging in delicious dishes.
This month, Eden Park in Whittington hosted a Greek inspired gathering.
Residents from Luson’s other location, The Vue in Grovedale, also journeyed across town to join in the fun, adding to the atmosphere.
All hands were on deck in the lead up to the cultural experience as residents prepared decorations and made plans for the day. Flavoursome scents drifted through the halls as chefs took residents on a culinary journey through Greece.
From slow-cooked lamb, lemon potatoes, moussaka and galaktoboureko (Greek rice pudding with rosewater syrup). Staff got into the spirit of the celebration, dressing up for the theme. They even performed an impromptu Zorba dance.
The cultural days are part of Luson’s commitment to provide diverse social calendars and engagement activities for their residents. Luson is a boutique residential aged care provider with family values at its heart. Helping residents enjoy a high quality of life is a priority.
When it comes to the regular cultural days, residents are part of the entire planning process. Together, they decide on the theme and organise an itinerary for the event.
The subsequent participation levels reflect the sense of ownership and belonging residents feel in the Luson aged care community.
Beyond the cultural days, Luson offers a wide range of health and wellness services. Whether it’s working on your strength, participating in weekly exercise groups, taking part in a fall prevention program or making full use of quality physiotherapy services, Luson believes fitness should be fun. There’s also daily neighbourhood walking groups.
For social butterflies, there are groups, events and classes, plus exciting excursions to places like the beach and even the pub.
