It's a free service that recommends the type of care most appropriate for you and what government assistance is available. You may not need to enter aged care, however completing this step means you avoid delays later on, should you need it.
After completing the assessment, you are ready to find the residential aged care that is the best fit for you.
You can find information about aged care residences in your preferred location, by looking up myagedcare.gov.au. We suggest you make a short-list and take private tours of as many homes as possible.
It’s the best way to experience for yourself the accommodation and services and to get a good sense of the people who work there. Our Luson family care homes are listed under the ‘Locations’ tab on our website. You are always welcome to visit, join us for lunch or even take part in an activity. There’s no better way to see what we do.
Pricing structures and options can be detailed and complex and may vary between aged care facilities. Once you have toured the homes on your shortlist, we suggest you visit a finance professional who can guide you through the fee and payment options.
Costing elements are broken down into basic daily care fees, accommodation fees, means-tested fees and additional services fees. You may be eligible for government support to cover some, or all, of your fees.
Application forms vary between aged care facilities. At Luson, our Client Services Manager will assist you with the application and any supporting documentation you may require.
The application is reviewed to determine which level of care and accommodation you need. You will be contacted as soon as there is a suitable vacancy. Sometimes this can happen immediately, or you may need to be waitlisted. At all times Luson will stay in touch to help you in any way we can.
Once ready to move in, you will receive a Resident Agreement, noting terms, conditions, rights and responsibilities for you and the aged care home. This should be completed and signed before you arrive. It’s best to review the agreement with your loved ones, family or a legal advisor
At Luson, our Client Services Manager will arrange a meeting prior to you moving in. They will talk you through the process and answer any questions. On arrival, we encourage you to personalise your room with items special to you. Our team are there to welcome you and help set up your space the way you like it.
We introduce ourselves and other residents, we chat to you about menus, activities, and all the things that make Luson a family home. You’ll be cared for by a small and consistent team who become extended family. We’re big believers in getting to know you and building care and connections to make you feel at home.
For further information please feel free to speak with one of our Client Services Managers at one of our Luson Locations.
